Following the successful completion of a long range vision for Parksville Community Park and waterfront walkway, a Downtown Revitalization Study considered ways to build a connection between the waterfront and downtown that realizes the potential of Parksville's spectacular beachfront setting.
Through this process, Lanarc (now HB Lanarc) investigated how transportation, urban design and streetscape improvements drawn from precedents around the world can be implemented in an affordable and practical manner. The concept of benefit/cost was considered throughout. Where cost savings could be realized without diminishing the aesthetic function they were aggressively pursued.
